The Ascenders Combat Demo was a project for Legendary Foundry Games that we created with a small team. Our primary goal was to make a preview of how combat could look in the final game while giving the community a fun competition in which they could win prizes if they competed in the minigame through a live leaderboard.
In the project, I was responsible for the game design, documentation, as well as implementation of most features such as the timer, scoring system, combat and enemies, as our team was small and time short.
After the project was delivered, we were requested to add additional features to the Combat Demo. These became variations on the existing game using the limited resources we had. We created an easter egg hunt and repurposed two enemies for two more game modes — A racing game mode and a JRPG-style hack ‘n slash game mode.
